Ricky Martin and Kristen Chenoweth are set to be honored by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).
Martin, a 39-year-old Latin pop singer who spurred the 1999 single "Livin' la Vida Loca," came out of the closet as a homosexual in a blog post in March 2010.
The father of twins Matteo and Valentino, who were born via a surrogate mother in 2008, has since released a memoir called "Me" that details his experiences of coming to grips with his sexuality as well as his rise to fame.
"Ricky coming out was a game changer for many gay and transgender Latino children, who for too long, did not have many out gay people to look up to," GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios said in a statement.
"Through his music, videos and interviews, Ricky has sent an important message that our community wants the same things all people do - an equal chance to raise our families and take care of our loved ones," he said.
GLAAD plans to give Martin the Vito Russo Award, which is presented to "an openly LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equal rights" for the gay community.
Chenoweth is a 42-year-old actress and singer who has appeared in Broadway musicals such as "Wicked" and in television shows such as "Glee" and "Pushing Daisies."
She will receive the Vanguard Award, which is presented to "media professionals who have increased the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community," GLAAD said.

Martin is set to receive his prize at GLAAD's New York Media Awards ceremony on March 19, while Chenoweth will get hers at the organization's Los Angeles event on April 10.
