Nicole Kidman Cries Over Oscar Nod

Nicole Kidman said that she cried tears of joy when she heard she was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in the movie "Rabbit Hole," which marks her third nomination.

In the film, Kidman, 43, plays a mother who mourns her son's death. Kidman won an Oscar in 2002 for her leading role in "The Hours" and was nominated for one for her part in "Moulin Rouge!."

Her and husband Keith Urban's 2-year-old daughter, Sunday, was confused by the actress' tear-filled reaction to her Oscar nomination, People magazine reported. "They said my name, and Keith was like 'Yeah!' and jumping around the kitchen," the magazine quoted Kidman as saying. "And Sunday is like, 'What's happening? Why are you crying?' Because I was crying. She said, 'Why are we sad?' I said, 'No. We're not sad, Sunday. We're happy.'"

Kidman told OnTheRedCarpet.com in January that she still remembers her first Oscars show fondly. She had attended it with her then-husband, actor Tom Cruise.

"I suppose I remember going to the Academy Awards with Tom when I was about 23 or something and that was like, completely overwhelming, but fun," Kidman said. "It's quick and fast and furious for a little while and then I go back to Tennessee and relax. I don't stay up that late."

The 43-year-old actress recently attended the Golden Globes, where she was nominated, but did not win the award for 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama' for her portrayal of a mother mourning her son's death in "Rabbit Hole."

Kidman said that she chose the role because she "felt compelled to tell the story" and felt the movie's premise was important in what it "was saying about grief and how we navigate our way through those things."

The actress and Urban also had another reason to celebrate recently - they welcomed a baby girl, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, on December 28, 2010. She is their biological daughter who was born with the help of a surrogate.

Kidman has said that they named her Faith because her pregnancy required it. The actress has had trouble conceiving in the past. While they were married, Kidman and Cruise adopted a teenage son and daughter - Connor and Isabella.
