A fifth "Terminator" film may be developed, a report says, days after Arnold Schwarzenegger said he wanted to return to acting.
The 63-year-old, who recently ended a seven-year term as governor of California, rose to fame playing the main cyborg in the futuristic franchise, which deals with an uprising against humans and spurred his famous lines, "I'll be back" and "Hasta la vista, baby."
Schwarzenegger starred in the first three films in the series, starting from the original 1984 movie "The Terminator" and ending with "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" in 2003.
Christian Bale, who received an Oscar nomination for his recent film "The Fighter," appeared in a fourth "Terminator" film in 2009 as human protagonist John Connor, a role originated by Edward Furlong in the second movie, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," which was released in 1991.
Interest in a fifth "Terminator" movie in the series is "kicking back up," Deadline.com reported, adding that "The Fast and the Furious" director Justin Lin may be tapped to helm a new "Terminator" film from Universal Studios. The company, Lin and Schwarzenegger have not commented.
Schwarzenegger, a former body builder, is also known for films such as "Kindergarten Cop," "Jingle All the Way," "True Lies" and "Total Recall." During his time as California governor, he briefly revived his film career with a cameo role in the 2010 summer blockbuster "The Expendables" alongside other action movie legends like Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis.
