Lindsay Lohan will be charged with one count of felony grand theft on Wednesday according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office. The actress is accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store in the Venice area of Los Angeles called Kamofie and Co. Lohan will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. at a Los Angeles court.
The necklace was reportedly stolen on January 22, three weeks after Lohan was released from court-ordered rehab at the Betty Ford Center and relocated to the Venice area. The Los Angeles Police Department issued a search warrant on February 2 for Lohan's home to search for the necklace, however, the necklace was returned to police prior to the service of the warrant.
According to The Associated Press, Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, released a statement on Saturday about the allegations saying, "We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press."
The 24-year-old is due for a probation hearing on February 25. A judge is expected to rule whether or not her supervised probation could end. If is found to have violated its terms, she could be sent to jail for another stint.
The stolen necklace case is the second active police investigation that could return Lohan to jail if a judge determines she has violated her probation.
The actress is also currently under investigation from Prosecutors in Riverside County who are considering pressing battery charges against Lohan over a December altercation the actress had with a worker at a Betty Ford Center.
Lohan, known for her roles in "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls, pleaded guilty in 2007 to being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and reckless driving.
The actress has completed a total of three stints behind bars - the first lasting 84 minutes, the second, 14 days. In September, she spent 15 hours in jail after she failed a drug test and wrote about it on her Twitter page. She entered a rehabilitation center just days later. Lohan has undergone also treatment in rehab centers several times, including for unrelated incidents.
